Windshield Safety & Replacement Auto Glass
There is a lot of talk online about the 20/20 report on windshield safety that aired on February 25, 2000. It is shocking at how some auto glass installers are willing to risk your life - only to save a few minutes of their time. That is not the case with all auto glass installers - rest assured.
However, your replacement auto glass could be a risk, and you may not even know it. When getting windshield or window repair there are some things you need to know. Did you know that even if you wear your seatbelt and have a properly functioning airbag, without a windshield firmly bonded to your car, any safety precautions are worthless?
Your factory-installed windshield prevents the car's roof from caving in and deflects your airbag. An improperly installed windshield is likely to come out during an accident - just when you need its protection most. It has been said by experts that millions of replacement auto glass is not installed properly - as many as seven out of ten.
What can you do to ensure a safe windshield installation or window repair? Choose an auto glass company that values your safety, not savings a few dollars.
Educate yourself and ask questions. Pick a shop that is well established and stands behind their work.
Some common auto glass replacement common mistakes:
Not wearing disposable rubber gloves when handling auto glass Oils and dirt from the installers' hands can contaminate the bonding service of the windshield.
Not properly preparing the pinch weld, causing it not to bond fully. We recommend that your technician inspect the pinch weld and make sure that it is clean and free of scratches. If scratches are present the technician should eliminate exposed metal with a primer.
Not cleaning the auto glass properly or wiping it down with a dirty rag. This dirt can contaminate the auto glass bonding surface.
Your technician should discuss with you the adhesive used and the time it takes for it to properly bond the auto glass to your vehicle. This lets you make an informed decision as to when you feel the car is safe to drive.
Using butyl tape instead of urethane. Butyl tape is an inferior adhesive, only holding to 60lbs per square inch. Urethane, by contrast, holds to 600lbs per square inch.
One last tip: Chips can be repaired through window repair services, however they often will turn into full blown cracks requiring you to replace the windshield. If you choose to repair a crack, please do it right away to keep it from getting contaminated.

For Timeless Elegance, Consider Hair Replacement Wigs in Northern Virginia
Although more and more enterprising physicians are setting up shop and selling hair replacement wigs in Northern Virginia, clinics focusing on hair loss treatments are still quite few and far between. People who are at a loss for hair loss solutions find themselves traveling long distances to credible institutes - but those who make the regular trips can attest to the fact that they are trips worth taking.
Hair replacement wigs in Northern Virginia are a viable alternative to surgery or medication. You could also pursue it as a complement to surgery or medication, if the budget permits. And the best part is, any man or woman living in this area does not have to comb the state to find a competent wig-maker.
It has also become convenient to wear wigs and toupees, unlike in the old days. The adhesive tapes on hair replacement units have become so durable, a person wearing the unit no longer has to worry about his or her wig being blown off by the wind or turned askew with sudden movements. In fact, a person wearing a wig can now go and do "daring" activities such as skydiving or windsurfing without any fear of his or her hair piece flying off his or her head.
Hairpieces aren't a "wash and wear" affair, however; like regular hair, they need a lot of attention. Toupees and wigs should be cleaned regularly. The adhesive residue on the wig itself should not be allowed to build up. Adhesive residue buildup can be harmful when absorbed by the skin. Also, the chemicals in wig adhesive residue can cause irritation to the scalp and discourage rather than promote the growth of new cells in the hair follicles of the scalp. Besides being unhygienic, just think of how you'll look wearing a dirty wig! You'll be defeating the purpose of purchasing a hairpiece in the first place.
There are quite a few men and women who nonetheless look askance at the idea of wearing wigs. Abundant hair growth has always been associated with beauty and good self-image, not just with women but with men as well. The fear of being found out that one is wearing a wig can sometimes cause so much anxiety, so much that it hinders the formation of new relationships and strains existing ones. Wearing wigs can also become uncomfortable.
For the moment, hair replacement wigs in Northern Virginia are among the more popular options for people suffering from hair loss. But all one has to do is to keep an open mind, and more options shall be available.

Care and Cleaning of Replacement Vinyl Windows
Vinyl replacement windows are an great way to increase the value and improve the appearance of your home. These windows are extremely durable and will last for many years with proper care. One of the greatest benefits is the ease of care and cleaning.
Follow these easy steps to ensure that your vinyl replacement windows can be enjoyed for years to come.
Sometimes, your windows will have labels or tape on the glass. Alcohol-based cleaners can remove label and tape adhesive that can be left behind from these labels. Be sure to test the cleaner on a small portion of the glass first. After this is removed, thoroughly wet the glass and rinse with plain water.
Glass can be easily cleaned with regular or other ammonia-based glass cleaners. Windex and similar glass cleaning products are ideal.
Vinyl (PVC) products can be cleaned with a solution of mild soap and water. For heavier cleaning tasks, the window manufacturer recommends commercially advertised household cleaners. Use any non-abrasive cleaner for tough jobs, avoiding Soft Scrub and similar abrasive products, which may cause damage. Do not use solvents, paint removers or sharp objects to clean your windows and patio doors.
If mildew is a problem in your home, use an appropriate cleaner or mildew controller found in any local retail store.
The tracks of the sliding and double-hung windows are exposed to the outdoor elements, which can contain abrasive elements such as dirt, leaves, sand, grease, soot, etc. If these elements are not removed, they can be ground into the tracks when the sashes are operated, making operation of these sashes difficult.
To avoid this problem, a minimum semi-annual cleaning is recommended. These tracks can be cleaned with a small, stiff, nylon brush, and then wiped down with a soft cloth. If necessary, an occasional light coat of silicone spray lubricant on the track of the sliding window will help to ease the operation of your window without leaving an oily residue, which can collect more abrasive elements.
Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for safe use of any chemical or cleaner.
Over time, your windows' screens can accumulate dirt and other debris. Screens can be cleaned easily with a soft brush. The type of soft brushes found on some vacuum cleaner accessories are a good example of a suitable brush.
